SONGWRITING
Jess fronted and wrote with original outfit, BARQ up until 2020, who achieved acclaim both nationally and abroad. BARQ supported Kamasi Washington, Madeleine Peyroux and Soja and debuted in New York, Toronto and London.
After BARQ, Jess wrote and collaborated with the X Collective, releasing the fiery song ‘Ascension’ in 2021. The song was then featured with Hot Brown Honey’s Dublin Fringe show ‘Hive City Legacy’ in 2022. Jess then wrote the choral ballad ‘Home’ for Hive City Legacy with Deborah Dickenson and Hot Brown Honey’s ‘Busty Beats’. The show went on to win The Judges Choice Award - a show that defines genre but must be recognised for its brilliance.
Jess has been commissioned by the National Museum for 2022 and 2023 in a multidisciplinary project with the Dirty Laundry Collective, where she will be sound-scaping and co-writing.
